Anti-Bullying
Here at South Brent Primary School we like to be one BIG HAPPY FAMILY. We try very hard to make everyone HAPPY and have FUN at school. We can openly talk about our problems and worries. Our Emotional Health Leader, Problem Solvers and other adults are here to help us.
Aims:
The aim of our anti-bullying policy is to ensure our pupils learn in a supportive, caring and safe environment. We believe every pupil and member of staff has a right to learn or teach without discrimination or threat. We have agreed not to tolerate any form of bullying so that everyone can feel respected and safe.
Definition:
We have adopted the following definition of bullying, It comes from the Anti-Bullying Alliance – South West Region.
Bullying is a subjective experience and can take many forms, making it extremely difficult to define. Children, young people and adults can instigate bullying. The nature of bullying is changing and evolving as technology develops. we consider bullying to be:• Repetitive, wilful or persistent. • Intentionally harmful, carried out by an individual or group. • An imbalance of power leaving the victim feeling defenceless.
Bullying is harmful to all involved, not just the bullied, and can lead to self-doubt, lack of confidence, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, self-harm and sometimes even suicide.
Bullying generally fits into one of two categories: emotionally or physically harmful behaviour. It can happen face to face or online, this can include: Name calling; taunting; mocking; making offensive comments; kicking; hitting; pushing; taking belongings; text messaging; emailing; gossiping; excluding people from groups; and spreading hurtful and untruthful rumours. |
